Extended cruise up the James to Richmond. If there is interest in an extended cruise to Richmond, Bob Williamson will stand by to lead it. Interseted! Sign-up Now!!!

Let's begin with the destination in mind. Can you cruise to Richmond in your trawler or even your sailboat with a 65’ mast and 6’ draft? The answer is: Yes you can!

You'll discovered that the “destination” is the journey up the James River more than reaching the city of Richmond. The trip can be best described as one of those cruises you dreamed about before buying your first boat.

Since the 4th is on a Wednesday this year, our basic plans will focus on the 3rd and the 4th, although some cruisers will certainly arrive early or stay late. The folks at YRYH know we are coming, but other clubs are cruising there as well. To be safe, please make your slip reservation with them soon (804-642-2156) and mention that you are a member of OCYC at the time.

The OPCYC annual calendar again lists two big events for the 4th of July weekend: our official cruise to York River Yacht Haven (YRYH) and Fireworks at the Fort.

YRYH is one of the most popular cruising destinations on the Bay. This year, YRYH will add to the attraction by providing a complementary continental breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings. There will also be classes for stained glass and beading. Just to confirm, the fireworks at Yorktown are scheduled for Sunday evening, 4 July. Of course, we’ll have our docktails and cookout by the pool. Another good time!
